Overall Objective

The Institute of Applied Science and Technology is a unit of the University of Information Technology and Communications, performing functions and tasks related to research, development, and transfer of scientific and technological products in the fields of information technology, digital engineering and technology, digital economics and management, and multimedia communication. It meets the digital transformation requirements of ministries, sectors, localities, and businesses, aiming to become a prestigious scientific and technological organization, contributing to enhancing the quality and status of the University of Information Technology and Communications in the field of digital technology application.

Through the Institute's activities, it aims to further leverage the university's strengths, utilize existing resources, and enhance and promote research and technology transfer activities both inside and outside the university through various forms such as implementing research topics, tasks, projects, and research and technology development programs, conducting training to raise awareness about digital transformation, advising on socio-economic policies; increasing the university's legitimate revenue, serving the development of the career and improving the quality of life of staff, employees, and workers in the university; contributing to the socio-economic development of the region, while promoting the industrialization and modernization of the country.

Specific Objectives

The specific operational goals of the Institute are partly based on Circular No. 22/2011/TT-BGDĐT dated May 30, 2011, by the Ministry of Education and Training, stipulating the activities of science and technology in higher education institutions, and the development strategy of the University of Information Technology and Communications until 2025, with a vision to 2033, including:

  1. Conducting scientific research in the field of information technology and related fields;
  2. Researching and developing new technologies, solutions, and products in information technology, digital engineering and technology, digital economics and management, and multimedia communication;
  3. Applying and transferring products resulting from scientific research and technology development, serving socio-economic development needs;
  4. Providing consulting services and scientific and technological services in the fields of information technology, digital engineering and technology, digital economics and management, and multimedia communication;
  5. Carrying out cooperation activities domestically and internationally in science and technology;
  6. Conducting training programs to enhance research capacity, innovation, and entrepreneurship, technology transfer, and knowledge training for individuals and organizations in need;
  7. Coordinating with functional units of the University to build a "technology incubator" model, fostering high-tech technology, startup incubation, linking technology development with creating new products with high commercial potential.
